Father’s Day is just around the corner and every year, Dads across the Canada say they don’t want or need anything for a gift. There are two things though that he will definitely not refuse – delicious food and appreciation. Make those happen and it will be the best Father’s Day yet!

Happy Father’s Day! Dads always try to keep it together and be strong for everyone else in a normal year. Let’s face it, this past year has been anything but normal. Dads have been working overtime – figuratively and sometimes literally. They definitely deserve a day to be celebrated.

NEW PRODUCT – CABBAGE ROLLS

A cabbage roll is a dish consisting of steamed cabbage leaves wrapped around a variety of fillings. The inspiration for our recipe started from our grandmothers coming from Ukraine and Poland. The best rolls are prepared from locally grown cabbage at a particular time of the year. The filling is predominantly rice with prepared bacon, onion and a special blend of spices. The filling is rolled in the cabbage leaf, then baked with a homemade tomato sauce and butter.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO US

It’s our Sweet Sixteen! Sixteen years ago we sold our first package of Perfect Pierogies! It was Potato & Cheddar and it was the start of where we are today. Many thanks for all of your support then and now. We are so grateful! Here’s to the next 16!

TOPPING IDEA: CREAMY MUSHROOM DILL SAUCEINGREDIENTS:

  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 8 ounces fresh mushrooms (quartered)
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup cream (half and half)
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 ounces fresh spinach (roughly chopped)
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill (chopped)
  • salt (to taste)
  • pepper (to taste)

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Clean and cut your mushrooms and place them in a bowl.Wash and chop your dill, and set aside. Wash and chop your spinach and set aside.
  2. Melt the butter in a non-stick frying pan over medium heat.
  3. Cook the mushrooms until browned about 5-6 minutes.
  4. Turn the heat to medium-low and add the garlic and lemon juice. Cook for about 1 minute.
  5. Add the sour cream, cream, dill, spinach, salt, and pepper.
  6. Cook until the spinach is wilted, then remove from heat.
  7. Place in a serving bowl. Top your pierogies. ENJOY!
